Hey,
Could I please have your thoughts on a code reader?
I'm running two freelanders and two defenders so a decent one for those vehicles
Thanks in advance..

I just got a foxwell NT530 was more than i wanted to spend at £160 but does the lot scanning 17 different moduels in my FL2 - and it includes sunroof calibration, live data etc etc. havent used it in anger but the reaosn i got it was that it can be upgraded for other car manufactures at £50 each.
Oh and scans can be saved and a PDF generated

How is the Foxwell going ? I have a FL2 and I was thinking of getting the NT 530 but reading posts on different sites is a bit confusing, at present it can be had for £120 and it seems a good time to jump in.

Surely you'll be better off with a Mongoose cable and SDD for that money?

Well I was actually thinking forward, the foxwell can be used on many different vehicles at a small cost
Not sure on the price of the SDD setup

I have the WOW Delphi clone for that.

Mine cost £32, and a friend loaded SDD onto an old laptop to run it. I used it to change the ECU in my FL2 last week, although it didn't fix the fault, or help identify the fault either. :(

That’s interesting and much cheaper, I have to admit I have not seen the SDD, I was just thinking in terms of stuff I have used before, Obviously you have a bit of a complicated situation going on but stepping back do you think the setup would be good for an average user just looking at general problems? I was wondering if the foxwell would prove useful for day to day stuff,

I have the Nanocom for my Defender which is pretty useful but often misses the mark like you seem to have experienced with the SDD on your Freelander

I didn't know about SDD when I got the foxwell. SDD will do more but requires a laptop.
For day to day I like the handheld - but it would be hard to go by SDD due to the cost difference.
If you swap cars every couple of years the foxwell would prob be the way to go - if you are sticking with landrover for a while it would be stupid not to get the SDD.

I also have the C110 for BMW / MINI (£50) very manual but does a lot, and OBDEleven for VAG (£80) went for the pro so that I could program etc, does the lot as it is an authorised tool - more or less a match for VAG Com - for what it doesnt do I recon the car would be in a garage (or scrap yard) anyway.
hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice, I didn't know about the SDD system being available, and I have been looking it up on the internet, obviously as the OEM system its pretty much the best, but obviously needs a good working knowledge of it to be sure you dont get yourself into deep water, and I was concerned about the battery backup system needed, though I wondered if jumping onto the 120 AH battery of my Defender and so giving a high capacity would do the job.
