Does your radio look like this?

Absolutely not
It looks like this..

I am wondering if those slots at the base might do something towards removing it?

Oh another landyzone member said, 5 years ago about this unit:

"Yep, simply removed the Becker Sat Nav using removal keys (I modified the ones I had with the Blaupunkt)."

Now what are these keys looking like. I think they go in those slots

For the record, here is a video that deals with replacing a similar Becker unit in a mercedes

And it looks like hellfrauds have the correct key

Those keys don't fit you Becker nav unit as far as I know. But you can try the keys, as it looks like it has the slots. I thought only way to remove it is by removing the console first, then unscrew the unit. It's not that difficult to remove the console with just a few screws to remove.
The Becker has a 5 digit code, so LR should have given you 5 digits, not 4.

at least one other 'zone' user says the unit is removable with keys, and those look like key slots
And 'mercedes keys fit'; and those keys are for mercedes

You would have thought all this was simple well known stuff

I agree, they should have given me a 5 digit key, but they didn't.

Try a 1 at the front

The LR system could only store 4 digits for radio code hence why they only gave you four!

If you enter the 4 digit code you have been given, then you just nee to add a 5th digit, start at 1 and work your way through them, at worst it will take 10 attempts.

I will get keys and try and remove it and read S/n.

It truly is pathetic this coding business.

Since once out of the car all it takes is the serial number its no barrier to theft at all.

Well given that there are only keys 1-7, it will in fact take only 7 attempts..

But do you actually know that I have 4 correct digits and only need a further one on the end?
Or is it the beginning?

Try the end and the beginning. ;)

Ok the 'Mercedes' keys got the unit out all right.

However as you can see, the last 5 digits of the serial number do not fall within the range 1-7 that can be entered..

Anyone have any bright ideas?
PS I tried 21473 and that didn't work either?

I don't think the code is in the serial number. I think you quote the serial number when you call the Landrover dealer for the code. Have you tried googling the radio make and serial number? I did this when I had a Rover 45 with no code and Google came up trumps.

I've been back in touch with the dealer and they are contacting LR on my behalf.

I will try the google trick
