When I press the rear wiper button the motor makes a buzzing noise but the arm does not move.

If I give the arm a little gentle persuasion it sweeps across the windscreen and then goes back to it's park position. When it is supposed to wipe again I get the buzzing and again the arm won't move until pushed up 2 or 3 inches.

Has anyone else had this fault. Is it repairable or is it a case of replacing the motor?

Thanks as always for any help and suggestions.

The wiper arm spindle may have seized. Try squirting it with some WD40 before resorting to replacement.

:frusty:<<< that's what i must do coz i didnt make pics......i've had the same prob a while ago......it's quite easy to remove the mechanism.....limb it in pieces(3 bolts are holding the top of it), give it a good clean, grease it well, piece it back...before u put it back to its place plug it in and try if it works....then u'll see if u need a new one.....worked for me and it's been working since.

Same with my Disco - Dismantled mechanism behind rear door card - filled with grease - no more problems

As an update today I removed the motor and opened it up. I cleaned up the mechanism and the worm drive screw rotates but the white plastic pulley doesn't turn.

Does this mean a new motor or can it be repaired?
