Check the wiring first where it flexes as you open the tailgate and that the motor has not seized.

I have already done that, yes it was seized but I managed to free it. put a feed on it and it turns fine. I have a feeling it is the wiring on the tailgate, but I don't fancy the job of trying to get to it under the headlining.

Easier and safer than frigging with the BECM.
