Noticed rear wiper blade not parked properly today.
Would not work so checked fuse, ok, changed for another fuse still not work.
what's the next step? is it worth taking the rear door card off and checking if power is up to motor?
electrics are not my strong point.
cheers

You may find that the main shaft on which the wiper arm fits has either come loose in the arm itself, or the shaft has seized in the plastic housing.

If it is the former, just take the arm off and check that the splines on the spindle are OK.

If it is the latter, you can recover it by drilling a small hole through the plastic housing and getting oil into the bearing area.

I did mine plus a spare motor, I'll get a picture of where the hole needs to be.

2002 Disco 2.
Have removed spare to check spindle, not loose very tight cannot move by hand.
Removed door card to check.
Motor has been replaced before.
Label says Made in Europe and year 2009.No DLB101640
Difficult to access to check power.
When power is on and button depressed there is no noise at all from wiper motor. Looks like replacement unit.
What do you think please.

Don't know if D2s are like D1s, where you have to have the drivers door shut or the rear wiper will not work. Mate of mine spent hours taking the rear door apart and motor off and was pulling his hair out, when I said to him, you did have the drivers door shut did'nt youand he said no, shut the door and hey presto wiper starts working.

The gearbox on the motor may have has seized (they seem to be undergreased or they dry out or summat...), if you suspect this pop the cover off the gearbox and sort it sooner rather than later.

I left mine a few months and by the time I got to it, the wiring on the motor overload protector had burnt away -> new motor

Thanks for the pointers.Actually on holiday in Fife all week.
Need to get a packet of trim clips and a remover before i go home.
Should be near main dealer at Cupar tomorrow.
Get it checked next week.

update to all.
Before stripping down again I ordered trim clips(£3.90 for 10 inc postage)
and a trim tool(£1.93 inc postage) both from Amazon. Lucky for me because while on holiday I called in at Pentland Landrover in Cupar to buy some new trimclips.
None in stock, just as well as their price was £1.30 EACH.
Anyway today stripped out door card removed wiper motor/gearbox.
Checked power supply which was good. Reconnected to motor and it worked on bench. Gearbox was well greased but put more in. Gave the shaft a good soaking with lubricant(not WD40).
Reassembled whole unit and its all working fine. So happy bunny time.
If any one is looking for clips or other parts do try Amazon.
cheers
