Hi

Not been about for a while but things are now back to normal whatever that is.When i first joined this forum someone said that owning a Freelander will be a joy and a tribulation. How bloody true they were.

My new prob is the rear windscreen wiper. It will not go off. So what we have to do is lower the rear windscreen every time we go out in the truck. Is this a normal fault or is it telling us something else. Please help and tell me what to do,hope it is simple and just a fuse issue.

Alan.

I would remove the switch and check behind it for a starter, if removing the fuse has not worked

Nah. The starter'll be in the engine bay.:p :p :p
I would say the relay or park switch are the most likely candidates.

i agree wiff ratty. . . . . .er ratty can yer swat thet creepy crawly fing as porky keeps tryin ter catch it un ma screen is covered in mutt juice :D :D :D

Ther's a relay behind the trim on the drivers side of the boot that powers up when the window is up and allows the wiper to work. Don't know if that helps or not?

On most wipers there are three (3) contacts. one is negative and two are positive.. The first positive is perminant and the second is switched. IE if you have perminant power to the switched line then the motor will run all the time. as soon as power is off on the switched line then the motor returns through it's cycle to the park position.

check what voltages you have on these two positive lines with the switch on and off. If they are always at 12v then there is a switching problem and if the swich oppereates the swiching line it is a fault on the motor.

obviously this can only be done when the door is closed and the roof is on so try and defeat the door close swich to alow better access.

I would but it seems like it's the only exercise porky gets so it's probably best that I don't.:p
