Hi, has anyone had a problem with the Rear Wiper bade scratching paint on the back door?

Noticed today when I had the spare off my TD4 sport that the wiper arm when fully to the right catches on the door and has scrapped off 3 x 2 inches of paint Every thing looks ok so can not way up why!! Have filled a chunk off the the arm so it now clears.

Has anyone had this and knows what has caused it ??

Have you checked the arm is not broken in any way, can brake at pivot point and if only broken at one side can still work but not properly.

My 2005 freestyle is the same and the arm is OK.

My paints all lovely and scratch free.
Now to get underneath under change diff seals, o/s rear drive shaft, and put the prop and vcu back on

Mine did it shortly after a dealer had advised on just a rear blade at mot. Didnt replace but noticed paint missing some time later. there was no immediate problem with the wiper arm but on close inspection one side of the arm mount (the one least visible) had broken allowing it to twist slightly and evidently rub the paint away when used. think my wheel mounted cycle carrier was to blame. happy ending though the dealer(Farnells paid for paint repair as they had not advised for arm replacement only blade!!

Thanks all for your replies, does not look broken but will take it off and have a look, rekon wheel carrier will have to come off first by the looks of it.

Put on new wiper arm and its fine, loads of clearance, could not see any difference between new one and the old when off, how strange!

£8 from Paddock which I thought was cheap so ordered some Britpart slotted and drilled vented discs with mintex pads, now the hill descent works without locking up the wheels
need to get some paint now... :-(

Sorted this one today as wiper was no longer covering top of window due to arm catching and lifting blade off glass. Took off arm, clamped in cloth in vice, gently heated with hot air gun and slightly 'straightened' it then clamped whilst cooled. I did remove the washer pipe from the arm first though to prevent melting it. All good now. Just saves a few quid !
