My rear window has occured the fault of not dropping the inch or so when you pull the handle to open it but when you close the door the window automatically rises back up as it should, goes up and down with the dash button as it should, does anyone know if the relay/solanoid thingys that operates this are in the rear door or somewhere else in the car

Its not a big issue as i can still open and close the rear door but i just like to fix things as they arise :)

Hello mate, not sure this will help but is the glass aligned properly? I noticed on mine the other day that the glass has shifted to the left but still operates ok. The reason it has done this I think is because of the direction of the door closing! However, it has nicked the upright seal as a result. I am gonna strip rear door next weekend and attempt to re-align it. Outside of this you are probably right re the actuator. I have a rave cd and will look for you.

Hi last week mine was doing the same, but when i close the door my glass goes up and on to the trim above the door,i have too push the glass down about an inch to get it shutting properly, hoping to have a look this wk end.

Just a thought, if it has been frosty when you have opened it you could have pulled it slightly up out of it's channel if the window had stuck agaist the seal. From memory they are just clamped along a flat channel with a couple of 10mm bolts holding them. While you are in the back door give the cable and other moving parts a good squirt of oil as they do snap usually at awkward times although I cannot imagine when it wouldn't be awkward for it to give up.

Having the same problem, I'm wondering if the cable stretches slightly with age and so doesn't drop as much.....

Could be the cable ready to snap. Best check it sooner rather than later. You can change them using a bike brake cable. It's fiddly but only a couple of £ otherwise the whole thing comes as a new motor with cable attached!

There will be a relay that is triggered by the door handle that sends power to the motor to wind it down a little bit. Check and clean the connections etc. I don't know whether it's separate or part of the circuitry inside the motor itself though.

On mine the cables seam to release but the glass will not drop.
If (once the handle has been released) I pull the glass down by hand it will drop the 15-20mm to allow me to open it???
And then if you shut the door the glass will rise like it should.
So no problem getting it up!!!

My glass has moved across to the left as well and after examining other FL1's in car parks (discreetly) lots of them seem to be the same.
Be interested to see what you find.

Did ya manage to have a look?
I had a look at mine and found if I was inside the boot and held the spring loaded white connector (sorry don't know what the tec term is) the window would drop:confused:

What does this contraption do?
I can get the glass to drop every time if I hold the darn thing:mad:

Did any off you manage to find a fix for this. Just found this thread as my boot window is doing the same as you describe

Thanks

Mark
