Hi everyone im putting a rear winch on my 90 truck cab however i cant have the winch behind the rear x member as i did away with my and made a custom rear bumper so im wondering could i mount it in the rear tub but obviously i cant just bolt it onto the tub its going to have to go to the chassis underneath just wondering whos done this i can you give me some advice please

I can fold you up a piece of steel like a bridge to reach down to your chassis to be welded and sit up at floor level

Hi thanks for the offer mate but i can do this myself but if you had a drawing that would be helpful im just really looking for advice have you fitted a rear winch like this?

When I was looking at doing this I looked up loads of pictures of challenge trucks and similar. Came up with lots of interesting stuff, the Yanks are good for ideas like this, although not always Defenders but can be useful to see how others have done it anyway.

i had a bumper made for me £80

Looks good mate but i dont have a x member and ive already welded a rear bumper on so it cant go on the back bumper ill try upload a picture of the back

are you talking about pressbrake? thats what im after im just hoping he can give me a diagram or drawing

well if hes making it for nothing then of course ill take one :D but im a fabricator by trade so it just made sense to do my own

The answer is in my first post, think where you want the winch then join it to your chassis as simply yet as strongly as needed
I would think you have access to a press brake and guilly as you are a fabricator , it will take you 2min to make a bridge out of some 12mm and a hour for fitting.
Or you could cut the centre section out of your tube bumper for a fair lead cut out the piece of box between the ends of you chassis rails and make up a winch tray, which is the way I would do it.
And no I dont do them for free they are £25 for the bridge:D
Good luck the rest of your work looks good
