Evening all,

I have a '99 TD5 ES7 that I'm about to change the rear view mirror on due to the crass design of the sunroof. Could anyone tell me how to take the old mirror off please; I'm assuming it is stuck to the windscreen somehow? It's the self-dimming type.

Many thanks,

When I took mine off, it came away relatively easily with a bit of a tug and twist. However, the one I replaced it with had to come off again, and the Halfrauds stuff I used to stick it on in the first place was so good that a piece of glass came away with the mirror!

If the mirror hasn't been removed it before, it should be fairly easy to pull away.

BTW, what do you intend to do with that mirror? I know of a very good home for it! :)

Thank-you both for the replies, I shall have a go in the morning assuming the replacement has arrived. Is there a dedicated adhesive I should use for putting the new one on?

You're welcome to the old one but bear in mind that it doesn't self-dim anymore and the compass has packed up! It's a great car but certainly won't last as long as my 1958 Series11!

Yes, you need the proper super-strong double-sided tape.
Any good motor factors should stock it.
