Howdy,

I have been dismantling the landrover this week (have holiday from work to use up before the end of the year), so that I can fix the bulkhead/weld up some holes and paint everything (also new swivels to fit). Some piccys - Operation restore landy, progress so far.. - Imgur

Moving on to my actual question, today I finally managed to remove the rear tub and have discovered that quite a few of the bolt holes are corroded away and the floor side bits are also corroded. What is the best way of fixing it? :/ Pictures - Tub - Imgur

The rear floor was really bad (http://imgur.com/a/VW0xh), so that is going to be replaced (probably buying the bits from YRM metals).

I've got a similar problem, my plan is going to be get a piece of scrap ally to brace across the area as best i can, and try to rivet it in so the rivets will be hidden by the cross member attachments, they use filler to neaten it all off.


that's the best i can think of
 
Repair panels are available but not cheap. The supports on mine have been repaired in the past but have rotted through again. Previous owner used chequer plate riveted onto the body.
 
After some research it looks like I'm going to go down the riveting some new bits on using aluminum sheet. Are pop rivets strong enough or should I use traditional ones? :)
 
pop rivets are fine ,epoxy metal can be used like a filler for holes etc you use some to stick a patch on the inside and some more to fill hole
 
riveting can repair most of a tub.... mine was like this....

used very large head rivets so not to pull through ally plate

Looking at my bathtub, I think it needs resurfacing. Water gets blocked because of which there are lot of stains. Is there a way I can do it by myself? Or I should seek for expert's help?

Can you post some pics of the inside and underneath the rear tub, and do you know which nuts you want to replace it’s actually quite straight forward to do
