Hi Guys,

I am seriously new to defenders/ 4x4's/ Off Roading so please forgive my new boy questions.

I did a pay-and-play on Sunday, and then busted 60 miles down the A1 at 70 mph...

As I strolled passed my TD5 pickup this morning and noticed on both sides the rear coil springs were no longer seated within the crown at the top, they were half in, half out.

I jacked it up and reseated the springs, how can I stop this happening in future?, how serious is this considering the motorway driving I did with the springs unseated.

Cheers

Rich

Old trick is pipe clamps around top coil and seat.

There is a minor irritation with that, in that the bottom spring holder can then quite easily be pulled out or bent instead, which allows the base of the spring to slip out then! And that's quite a bit more work to replace properly.

A better answer is HD clamps on the bottom and re-location cones at top, but decent pipe or rope clamps at the top will work.

In an emergency jubilee clips .. ;)
