i'm just in the process of rebuilding my rear axle replacing all the bearings and braking parts and I'm unsure whether i need to replace the rear stubs because of the wear or not.
Below is some photos of them, there is some marking on the main shafts from the bearings but they don't appear to be scored or worn down at all. But there is some pitting on the surface the oil seal sits on.
Question is do i need to replace them? They weren't leaking any oil so i guess the oil seal was properly sealed against the pitted area. I would replace them anyway as a matter of course but i really can't afford an extra £50 at the moment so will i get away with just replacing the gasket, mud shield, seal and bolts on the stubs?
Many Thanks..
