Hi guys,
I'm completely new to this forum and to Land Rovers so I apologise if I'm sounding like a noob :frown:.
I bought my first Disco 2 a couple of weeks ago and realised that the rear step will not say up!
Is there a special part that is used to keep it up, I heard it was hydraulic

I can see a cable tie which I'm guessing is how the previous owner must have kept it up. It's only a small issue but can get very annoying so any help would be extremely appreciated :).

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Check the condition of the actual step and arm as well, its not unknown for them to rot away and collapse when stood on.

Mine was tied up with string when I got it, guess what? it still has the string attatched to it but is in a skip somewhere, rotten as fcuk. Why do you need it anyway? Cant imagine old people getting in the back. Only kids, & kids love climbing. My kids dont moan, also theres no step on my other car which is a Ford Galaxy( VW really)

The actual step and arm are in pretty good condition, just the hydraulic strut isn't holding the step up, and I don't really use the step very often, it just gets rather annoying when it's bouncing around when driving.

I'll probably just buy a new strut and fit it myself.

Thanks for all the help guys! :)

Save some money if you dont use it much, only two bolts through the chassis, chuck it in your shed till you sell the Landy on, then buy a new strut for it & it wouldnt have rotted while in your shed
