Hi guys
I'm new to all this and in need of help, one of my spring mounts has corroded through and I have spoken to several local garages to see if they can get it done and all have flatly refused to do it. I am seeing if there is anyone out there who can recommend someone to do such a job, I live in the Wirral area.
Thanks in advance

Do you have pics?

the D2 is known for rusting thru in the rear chassis and the spring / shock mounts.

Cheers

Hi Neil
Thanks for getting back
It's just the spring mount that has corroded

They never mentioned the chassis, they just said they couldn't remove the old ones without a plasma cutter or lifting the body

I'd suggest that this means they either 1) don't want the job, 2) can see that rest of the rear chassis is toast, or 3) don't know what they are talking about.

Without pictures of the chassis I certainly couldn't advise you.

It also depends on what you want to do with the vehicle long term .... if it's a keeper, then new chassis is worth doing ( subject to the condition of the rest of it ....)

they could with an angle grinder and or air saw ,but id like others guess they dont want the risk of the job been larger ie chassis rails rotten

I don't think they do many land rovers and I can only assume they didn't realize how big of a job it was and definitely a keeper my first disco and definitely my last

Ok, fair enough - Glad you're going to keep it - Mine is staying forever too - as is SWMBO's :).

Have you got any pics of the rear half of the chassis ? I'd be pretty surprised if the spring mounts have gone and the rest of the chassis is good TBH :(

Worth a search on here to get an idea what you are looking for.... ;)

Fair enough we all need someone to keep us in check
It's raining like hell here at the mo, I can send some when it decides to stop
I've found a land rover specialist in some just waiting to see what they say

It is possible it's just not their bag preferring mechanicals to fabrication. Might be better taking it to a welding shop or mobile welder?
