Is it still ok to remove the rear seats for the MOT?

I was getting it ready for test on Wednesday and found rear centre seatbelt jammed. In my haste to see if I could fix it I levered off the wrong side and the mainspring flew out. I don't have time to get another one in, so was thinking of taking the back seats out for the test.

In theory, removing the seats should just get you an advisory, stating that the rear seats weren't in the vehicle at the time of the test.
At least that's what used to happen.

Thanks Nodge. I'm taking it to my usual guy who gives it the once over and puts it through. Trouble is, I cannot get hold of him either to ask him or tell him it needs another one. Answering the phone isn't high on his list of priorities. I should have left the bloody thing alone.

A few years ago my Disco failed it's MOT because of rust near a rear seat belt mounting point. I removed the seat belts and seats and got a pass with an advisory.

Thanks for that. Next time I get the urge to pop open a box of springs under tension I hope I think better of it. Lucky to still have a face.
