Hi guys

my main rear seat will not return to the upright position I have tried the lpulling the release lever at the same time still no luck. any one been inside the main rear seat?
grateful for any knowledgable advise

check that the locking mech under the seat is not jammed or that anything is in the way to stop it locking down.

the seats dont fold upright untill the seat is locked down correctly to the chassis. :)

The back rest will not go back up until the base seat is latched into place. If its the bigger of the 2 seats then the base latch has a rod within the seat base that connects to the outer hinge - this might have dislodged stopping the back rest from going up.

i had the same problem, Its correct that the back wont return unless the seat has locked onto the bar on the floor of the boot. I removed the plastic cover that covers the mechanism that secures to the hook on the boot floor then i figured out how it worked and saw that one bit was jammed, a load of wd40 and it released and started working again.

Similar problem in that the seat sits back on the floor but the back only lifts about half way then sticks. Does anyone know what triggers the locking mechanism on the floor, is it triggered as you start to raise the back of the seat or what???
Cheers Ken

If you take the plastic cover of the bottom end of the seat that covers the mechanism, attempt to lift the back of the seat up, you will see a lever in the mech that moves down, mine has become worn and you have to move it with a screwdriver, etc, to allow the seat back to come up.

I have the opposite problem with the single rear seat, it won't fold down, I pull the seat release, and nothing happens. Looking at the catch on the back of the seat it doesn't look like it's engaged properly somehow.

Hello,

I'm wondering if there is any insurance implications to modding the seat mechanisms..
If something bad was to happen (accident etc. involving injury) and there was an inspection performed.. could the insurance company use this a "get out of payout" .. sort of thing??

Bodge99.

Nightmare this.happened to me I had to take plastic cover off and bray the **** out of it with a hammer and screw driver to get it back up.now they just stay up.

Thanks guys, I'm new to Land Roger ownership and this forum has already helped me solved two issues. I just took the plastic case off after trying spraying everything with WD40, and it just worked!

Thanks for the advice (even from you guys 10 years ago). I removed all of the covers and sprayed all of the mechanisms with WD-40 but no luck. I found that the release loop was just getting stuck. It works now, but if it happens again I will disassemble it and share my findings.
