Good evening all, I am going to attempt to remove my door card, so I can try and see why my bloody door won't open from the outside? I have been told my handle rod may have come off. Question is how difficult is it to remove the card and anything I need to look out for?

Thanks in anticipation
Jay

Door cards come off quite easily. A couple of screws hold the handle in place, then gently pry off the card. Carefully pull the condensation cover back, then dislocate your hand and arm to reach the rod! Mike

Yep Neighbour be careful and use a proper plastic popper remover as they can snap under strain:oops::mad::( The plastic sheet can be a sod too as with age they go brittle.

OK had the door card off, got behind the waterproof membrane and to the back of the handle. The rod is connected to the back of the handle and connects down to the lock. The issue is still there. However, when I closed the door from inside and pushed the rod down the door opened. But still won't from outside?

Am I missing something here?

The locking motors dead, needs replacing. Classic fault, locks but won't unlock. Mike
But it opens from the inside with no problems and when I had the card off and operated the door handle rod from inside it worked?? Is it definitely a replacement and how much do you think I may be shelling out?

When a central locking motor fails, the door will lock but not unlock on the fob. If when unlocked the external door handle does not work that's a linkage problem. If it works when unlocked it's just the motor. A new lock motor is around £60ish new or cheaper for 2nd hand. Can't remember all the linkage as doing this from memory. Hope this helps. Mike
