Hi.

Removed the sills off my 90 today to prepare for fitting rock sliders. Noticed the o/s rear tubular outrigger has a piece of box section in it and the fuel tank mountings have rusted away. Seems only option is to replace the outrigger. As it's now cold and dark I can't see too well. Has anyone replaced one of these?? How is the outrigger held in place? Is it a big job to replace??

Thanks.

the out rigger is welded about 12mm from the top of the main chassis and it has the tank mounts and the mounts for the front of the tub/body.
it is east to replace as you can get all round it to weld it and it will bolt into place using the body so you should be able to position it very easily. if you landy is diesel then you dont even have to remove the tank.
so its a dead easy job to do :)

Thanks for that. Just got to find someone to weld it now. Any recommendations of where to buy the part?? Been looking about and all much of a muchness re price but don't wanna buy some dodgy fitting one.

most places should be fine. Try to find a landy friendly garage locally as they would have carried this out before (probably) therefore doing the job quickly and efficiently. unlike where i took mine 1st and they charged a fortune! saying they didnt realise the outrigger went right through the chassis, blah blah. idiots. well not a fortune, but more than i think it should have been.
