Here is a trick for you.
Seriously, remove the rear section for a week and you'll get an idea of how loud it could be .. you may lose friends and family but you'll have a good idea without spending out.

hahaha I have been thinking about it for a while now, thats why I decided to ask if someone has tried it before, the bad thing about this is that the entire exhaust system is a single piece putting it back would be complicated, I was thinking of using a throttle body with an electronic switch to bypass the silencer any time I wanted a little exhaust noiseHere is a trick for you.

I have a land rover 90 with a 4.0V8 from a P38 and it has straight pipes all the way, it is extremely loud!

leave the back box and replace the middle one with a straight pipe like this

Exactly,i think its biketeacherdave or ukadamwest has one and it comes on and off quite regularly when he finds it a bit much.

Tanzania, so doubt that the MOT requirements are too exacting that's if there is an MOT. When I was in Ghana, when I knocked the boxes off my V8 Daimler Jag, I just fitted 2 lengths of copper pipe front to back. Surprisingly it was not too noisy at low revs through Accra town, hard acceleration was a different matter.

why I love Africa, its a pain in the a** to get these range rovers fixed here, thats why whenever I go to the states every year I buy parts and keep them in case something goes wrongwouldn't the middle ones make more noise if removed? so no one in this forum has done something like this?

Here in France removing any part of the standard exhaust system is an MOT fail and insurers are likely to use it as an excuse not to pay in the event of an accident, even replacement S/S exhausts have to have the correct approvals.
where I live we don't have such thing as an MOT as far as insurance is involved we only use insurance because it is a traffic offense but actually getting paid by the insurance if something goes wrong is a headache, insurance for my range rover as third party insurance is only $60 per year
btw quick question, would 22inch or 20inch be a better option for the 04 vogue? i currently have 18inch tires and they look tiny compared to the size of the car, Oh and we have paved roads almost everywhere

There should be a way to give medium sized electric shocks , through the keyboard,to people, every time they ask about bastardising a Range Rover like this If people want a sports or a muscle car , why buy a Range Rover?! A Range Rover is a refined cruiser, with excellent off-road capability, buy something else if that's not what you need, rather than trying to make it into something it isn't. land rover themselves makes an SVR version of the range rover and it is loud as F**k, why would it be a sin if I wanted to have a little fun in my range rover?

I am quite sure LR do more than just make the exhaust loud to produce the SVR Not saying it is a sin to have fun in your Range Rover, but why not have fun in it, with what it is designed for? Go play off-road, you'd be very pleasantly surprised, and given a great adrenaline rush, at what these beasts can do, when thrown about. I suspect if you took it to the extreme of what it is built for you would be desperate to do it over and over, you would never think of 'big wheels and a little bit of noise from the exhaust' as fun again. Still each to their own.
