can I pick ur brains please , sorry it's a bit of a long message

going to have my towbar fitted in April and been thinking of a way to improve my reversing lights

wish to put some form of led etc on the back and wire it in so they come on together or a seperate switch

have got two spare switches where i fitted my spots and fogs and they sit in the small panel down on the right hand side of the steering wheel

easy to do as i only need to pick up a live connection , fuse, then through the switch back out then onto the light , pick up an earth from the back

had this idea of what about if I get a thin LED light and fix it to the back of the tow bar box section

could get the light , drill some holes into the towbar for the wires to go inside the towbar and fit some rivnuts , then take it back off and refit when the towbar is installed

run the wires inside the box section , out through the open ends , then up through the floor via the blanks already fitted

my concern is once the towbar is fitted would the exhaust silencer be in the way, or maybe sits too close

what do u think guys , just fancy doing something different

if anyone has this type of towbar fitted could anyone be so kind to take some pics please , so I can what room etc I've got and if it is indeed feasible to do , as I may have to fit some sort of bracket if the towbar sits to far up behind the bumper

If you are having a tow bar fitted I assume that they will be doing the socket wiring, in which case could you ask them for what you want ?

i have fitted 2 18leds lights under the valence which gives a nice beam of light rather
then a flood light .

lol,

they are just going to fit the main towbar box section

my son is going to do the electrics, plug in loom and fit the towbar , as the mot is coming up , going to just get the main bit of the towbar fitted as its not covered by the mot and can do the electrics and fit the towball after it is done

all about budget im afraid as always , lol

if you drill a tow bar then you would void any warrantee and also if someone crashed into you back end the insurance company may say they are not replacing the tow bar which is a must after a rear end accident, in other words NEVER EVER drill a tow bar.

Hi Gary...you seem to be a lover of LED conversions....
Have you replaced the amber indicator lamps (21W-front & rear) ? If so, did you get any problems with the flash rate, dash warning light or hazard light function.
I am considering fitting them to my '02, TD4 facelift.

hi mate

the main reason I replaced all bulbs inside due to not being able to see them properly at night

Am always concerned with the way the rear lights are laid out that other drivers can't see me properly in adverse weather conditions and thought about doing the light conversions

haven't done any of the outside lights as of yet but looking into all the different leds etc and will of course let u know

i beleave if u put error free bulbs in it cures the problem and an upgraded flasher relay like the hella one used as part when a towbar is fitted cures the problem ??? but still reading up on stuff

am thinking of a possible quick solution if I can convert the fog light into a combined brake light but then realised I can't due to the side light function

as I thought of having the bumper brake and fog light both coming on together as a brake light , but having to rethink that one

only way I can see if move the brake into the fog and fogs into the brake light position in the bumper

another thought is instead of swapping all the bulbs round is maybe seeing where all the lights plug in at the back , and removing wires accordingly out of the plug and moving the wires instead of rewiring the bulb holders into different positions , then changing the bulbs accordingly

I think I've confused myself, lol

I have altered my rear lights, they are now

Body: tail/fog, reverse
Bumper: tail/brake, indicators

that sounds like a good idea , so u put a double bulb in the fogs and got sidelights there and took the sidelight feed and put it into the fog light holder

the brake lights remane the same in the bumper and high level one
