Anyone replaced they're rear fog and reverse lights from bulb to led at a reasonable price? I want led but want the same size fittings as original . Seen some on eBay for £59. Too steep for me.
Different.I have, but it's not what you'd expect, it cost £25 and passed its MOT. Was sick of the OEM part filling with slime and generally looking mollox.
That's what I'm after, something the same sizerdx fog & reverse.looks like original
Think britpart also make them probably cheaper but quality unknown

Are you saying the more you pay relates to a better led? I know that is the case in most things, but are there superior led, s and how can you tell, apart from the price.I've got wipac LEDs except for Bolt-on NAS stop/ tail, fitted easily, and have been perfectly reliable for some years.. Good LEDs cost, no way round that.
Hi @Hicap phill , are you sure yours are from bob? I contacted them and they only have a slimmer square fog and rev. lamp.rdx fog & reverse.looks like original
Think britpart also make them probably cheaper but quality unknown

Thanks Branding, very informative . The fact is, I can't get the replica lamps from a reputable company . B.o.b said they can't find a good enough version to sell so opt for a good quality, different shape. I will call the seller on eBay that is asking top money to see if they are branded.Yes and no. The actual LED manufacturers make a big batch of light emitting diodes and then they actually grade them into different bins dependent on many factors including colour temperature, light output etc. There will be up to 10 bins or grades of the same LED. So a LED type from a particular manufacturer will have a product code for the type of LED say type XYX123. However this does not tell you anything about the grade or BIN. For this you would need the rest of the product code say XYZ123/ABC987654. The LED out of the top grade or BIN will be $ each. Those from the bottom bin will be cents each.
Guess which BIN the well known reputable LED light manufacturers buy from and which binBIN the cheap unbranded lights come from.
Now we get various emails from China and some are quite amusing as some comment 'We use genuine original CREE LEDs not the fake CREE lights made in China by fake makers'
Last week we got an email saying we can laser etch your company name and any markings you like on these LED headlight lens. That is from a company in China as a 'cold call email' . Would I trust the quality of the LEDs from this company?
Have even seen LED headlights with fake certificate of approval. One LED headlight had an approval certificate for a brake light from a different manufacturer.
On ebay there are some sellers using a reputable brand name and product code to sell non approved, unbranded lights which do not even look like the reputable brand light.
So YES buying a reputable branded light from a reputable seller you will get a better LED.
NO the average buyer will not be able to tell the difference.
Best advice is stick to a respected reputable brand name. No brand name chances are cheap illegal LED lights with poor light output, radio interference and water ingress.
