Hi guys , freelander repairs all going well so far , however I Have a new issue, although the boot door always locks it sometimes bounces back when im trying to close it , any ideas , its almost as if the lock latch isnt closing properly

Ive just tried this , it didnt help but thanks anyway ,the handle seems loose all of a sudden , ive only had it 2 weeks so cant recall , is it supposed to spring back?

No , handle not springing back , appears springs might have gone , after I get the door card off and purchase springs is this an easy job?

It sounds like you have 2 faults. The springs in the handle is one and the latch not engaging correctly is the other.

I think in the past I may have replaced one of the springs by removing the number plate light. If you can get one on it will be enough.
Taking off the handle will probably be a pig of a job and might result in a new handle as everything will be rusted solid.
Nodge might be right about the latch but replace the handle spring first and see what happens.

Ive realised that if you push the handle back to where it needs to be as if the spring had returned it it closes so im assuming its a spring , it would be a godsend if I could replace the spring through the numberplate light , ill have a look

No guarantees you'll get the number plate light back in properly but a small price to pay.

Alibro , thanks , ive done this , you were 50% correct , you cant get to the spring through the light , however you can access the whole switch by removing 2 tiny screws and sliding the handle out and from the outside , my 2 springs were missing , someone had replaced them with a rubber band ! , I dont know why someone would have gone to the trouble of removing the handle and not fixed it properly , only 1 company sell the springs on ebay for approx £7 plus post , however I went to halfords and they sell a box of 100 springs (various) for £4 and the can be adapted. The whole job including the trip to halfords took me 45 mins , thanks again
