I don't know how I did it, but a wire cable has broken in my rear door, and the glass is in the closed position but is outside the top rail. How on earth am I going to fix this mess?
Any help is very welcome, thank you.

If the wires have snapped then the window should be able to pull down. I guess the the cable had it. There are kits available but another would be to replace the mechanism all together. Do not throw out the original glass pincers as the new one mechs may not have them fitted.

The cable snapped on mine, I could not pull the glass down. I removed the plastic trim above the window and bent the rubber seal out which allowed me to open the door and remove the doortrim to access the cable which had snapped.

Job done, I changed the complete mechanism. I did think about just changing the wires, but it looked too stressful.
Thanks for the advice.

Getting a dab hand at this job, I changed the driver side mechanism today.
I've only got the two rear windows to do next!!

I've changed 6 Freelander window cables in the last month. Only one was on my own Freelander. The other five were on other's cars. I can do back door cables in 30 minutes and fronts in 45.
I've got my tail door cable to change in the next few weeks too. Not looking forward to that as they are a right faf. I won't be buying anything more than the cable though.
