Hi all,

I had a knocking from the rear door on my 2011 90 hard top.
It turned out to be the weight of the rear wheel when going over big bumps was causing the back door skin to flex and knock as it has come away from the frame on the lower section below the spare wheel carrier.
I’ve provisionally stopped it by wedging some sound deadening between the skin and the frame, but this has created a gap at the very bottom of the door.
I’m wondering how to fix this without reskinning or replacing the door, because it’s otherwise in good condition.

Please can I get some suggestions on fixing this?

Thanks

I did wonder if I could add some seam sealer and then put a couple of bolts through the frame and the skin from the inside. Not perfect but wouldn’t be massively visible due to the spare wheel.

The door's internal frame may need sorting. If the lower edge of the skin has come away from the frame some pop rivets may be better than bolts.

Wedge it apart slightly and get some tiger seal in there then a few g clamps and a block of wood. Dont be drilling through skin.
