Can anyone point me in the right direction to someone who reconditions LR Diffs and will post O/S. thanks DW.

Whats wrong with your Diff? It may be cheaper to buy a good secondhand unit or simply just fix yours. Having just rebuilt a diff it is quite simple to do and set up. But Crown Differentials and Ashcroft Transmissions will do a recon.

The rear diff has a humongous backlash. i was told there was no adjustment for that and its probably a worn crown wheel and pinion. Im no expert on diffs. Its not overly noisy but it feels like its going to give over any minute. DW.

how horrendous is humongous?

couldnt you lift the pinion to get rid if some of the backlash, using spacers it should be possible to remove some slop and improve the mesh.

please be aware I may be talking complete uneducated bollocks and just having a stab at this:eek:,but give crown diffs a call and ask em if its possible, you never know you might just be able to order some spares and rebuild it yourself.

The backlash can be easily reset, its is part of the build process. There are two adjustment wheels in the diff to do this. No need to touch the pinion height. What type of land rover is it?

The back lash is adjusted by moving the crown wheel in relation to the pinion. That is the only adjustment to do.

not exactly if pinion bearings have wear which is usual ,adjusting carrier bearings wouldnt be the best fix
