Please Help,
Have oil leak from rear diff at its front where the prop shaft is attached. There is no relavent information in my 'Haynes' manual. I have removed the prop shaft and am left with a flange that has a location spigot (for the prop) which has a small thread in its centre (is this to insert a matching bolt to 'drift' off the said part?)
Is this a job I can do myself?
Have tried to look for previous posts with no joy.
Do I have to strip the whole unit?
Is there an other manual available with the correct information?
Will put Kettle on and wait for replys to flood in.
Many thanks in anticipation
Chas

look in the search box section , under changing a 300 tdi prop to a 200 tdi prop.. you will find what your looking for... you have to use a drift puller yes, to get the spigit out, to get to the nut to remove the flange.

iam sure there is a how to guide on here somewhere.. but also if you type it on google, it takes you to a guide there too. the spigit can be hard to take out sometimes. also some large grips and gentle heat works.

Still struggling- is it best to search under 'threads' or 'posts',as you can easily tell my forum ears are still wet behind:D.

Have a look in "busters-photo-tour-landrover-repairs" forum, i'm sure there's info in there, it may be for a defender but it the same/similar.

the spigot has 8mm threaded hole sometimes it can be wound out by screwing long threded screw in ,or as a securing point for slide hammer

:eek:Guys, thanks very much for your helpful comments. Had to give up and take family to France for holiday so have only just read them. 1500 miles later and the Disco behaved perfectly. Will post progress when I can fit in time to attempt repair again.
