discowoods

Dear all
I'm about to start replacing the rear crossmember on my Disco 300DTi.:(
It has rusted big time. I have brought a new one from M&M4x4.
Does anyone have any advice/tips to speed up the job.
Have heard that cutting the new one in half helps when installing then reweld?
Removing the rear door?
The rear floor is out (another job for later).

Steve :)

Jack the body up,use wood to spread the load.Having the door off cant hurt.I dont think I would fancy welding it up again to a as-new standard in situ. This has been covered a fair bit, along with the associated body mounts issue.Have a thorough search, vary the wording a bit....boring,I know, but you will find out more that way.The bit I have most trouble with is the long body mount bolts that rust into the metal bushes inside the rubber bits.I replace them with ABS nylon bushes that were used on a lorry that I did maintanence on years ago.But you will find all that out when you :search: :D:D:D
