Just picked up my special order widened crossmember from Clive, being a ex fabricator and coded welder I can honestly say his workmanship is up there with the best and a all round great guy!

I can highly recommend him, his prices may be cheap but it is a very competitive market, with a lot of bits being made in the east now and getting big name brands slapped on them and selling for far more then there worth.

I'm really happy with the quality of the crossmember, in another league compared to ones I have been looking at for sale.

Clive showed me round some of his other projects he's been working on, I was impressed by alot of comp trucks at the shows recently but don't think the standard and workmanship was up to the one he had built!

Hope you dont mind that I took this sneaky pic mate.

Big thumbs up to this man from another happy customer!

Mine needs doing, but its a loooong way to Essex, so I'll be looking at someone local to weld it all up (Landy is on a sorn anyway till this is done) on the picks from Moorlo it looks like there are short extensions -just how long are these, or is literally just the back C section x-member? The Pics on ebay show the outside, any chance of one showing the inside face before its all welded in to place?

The x member is just a c section, the plates you saw in the picture were all the vehicle required.
I do sell these ,part finished to be ground to final size for those without access to a plasma or gas, but to be honest a reasonable skill level is required to fit any x member .
That said anyone with half a brain should be able to do it in less than a day with the body tub in place

Its a mixture of stick and mig, when you use up to 2 rolls of wire a week boredom is a real problem so I switch between mig and stick on the x members and tig If ive really lost the will to live.
I use argoshield universal up to 300amp, and on 25mm and over plate ,500amps, cored wire(toxic and nasty) and argoshield heavy.

Great photo's, very helpful, so you get the x-member plus 4 shaped "extension" plates and 4 flats to join it all to the rear end? I guess its two straight cuts through the chassis level with the end of the existing x-member to get the old one off, looking like a the best idea yet! Just had a small op so cant actually do anything at the mo so need to be clear on what some-one else is going to have to do for me.

Can I just ask where am I going to store all the mud and water thats in the original one??:D:D:D

Hi All
i presume the one i have just brought is from the same clive,i too am really pleased with his skill and it will be a real shame my welds will look terrible next to his work.

Try #16 of this thread. It's only a pic from the back, I can't remember if I took more looking inside.
That's one of his, it's a bit different to mine. Mine has the 2 angles in the middle at 45 deg, not 90 deg like yours & no exhaust hanger but mine comes out the side anyway.

Just fitted mine easy to fit just cut the ends of the chassis rails back just past the bracing, bolted on the new cross member and cut up some plates to remake the ends of the chassis rails to the new cross member.

I'm very happy with the new cross member from pressbrake and can highly recommend him!

New HD cross member is very nicely made, a lot stronger than the original and better made than all pattern cross members i looked at plus no more water traps!!
