Looking at the workshop manual (free download or get the RAVE CD's and burn an image onto a disc, do a search on the forum) it is not that simple removing the rear bumper valance is as follows.
Raise the vehicle
Remove the rear road wheels
Remove 3 screws securing each mud flap, romve mud flaps
Remove 2 screws securing each wheel arch liner extension panel to rear bumper/chassis
Remove 2 wheelarch liner extension panels
Release 2 clips securing bumper ends to mounting brackets.
Disconnect 3 towing harness multiplugs
Remove 2 mounting bold covers
Remove 2 bolts securing bumper to chassis
With assistance, release bumper ends from brackets and remove bumper, voila
You can do it with the wheels on and the mudflaps still in situ, My flaps screws wre so rusted I could not remove them until I had removed the bumper a whole.
1. Raise car to wade and place suitable axle stands under chassis
2. Open drivers door to lock EAS and place something to stop it closing.
3. Remove rear bolts. Usualy very tight.
4. Unclip retainers left and right . Also tight.
5. Get help to gently spring and slide bumper/mudflaps past wheel arch.
6. Place on soft covering as the ground will mark the bumper very easily.
7. You may have towbar wiring stopping you from sliding the bumper fully off.
Item 9 on Adams list are special bolts, I had to buy the appropriate spanners
This works for me as I have taken it off twice to add Towbar and then the electrics kit.
