Evening all,

The rear bumper on my disco needs a respray. I'm planning to do it at home but in reality spraying has never been a strong point.

Can anyone recommend a good black paint to use on it that's going to be hard wearing and can I get it in cans or not?

Also, is it better to undercoat it once it's been sanded down/cleaned up with a wire brush?

Thanks

I just do mine with rattle cans of primer and satin black paint whenever I think they need it. If they rot through it tends to be from the back of the bumper so if you do take them off it is worth cleaning up and repainting the backs with hammerite before you do the bits you will see with satin black.

I sprayed the plastic end caps satin black as well so it is easy to tart them up again when I catch them on anything :)

Tin of smooth hammerite and a brush. No masking and don't worry about wind. Not failed me yet.

I did the inside of mine with under body seal, and did the outside with hammerite.. Works a treat.

Dunno how well you can see it?

It's no more work than doing a good job painting it black. It's proper paint so it's pretty tuff? A good cote of lacquer protects it well

It does make a huge difference to them! Never plucked up the courage to do it to the white commercial I had tho! May have been ott:)
