I cant get the rear drum off and need to fix this thing before dark. I shall persevere and hopefully someone might have a proper solution when i check back. I have hit it with lump hammer, presently looking for rubber mallet.

I might loosen the cables at the handbrake lever.

Thanx in advance.

i got it off with some perseverance and lots of hammer blows . The lining had come off one of the shoes.
I'll have to chance driving to work with it in the morning.

You're going to take it out on public roads with a known brake fault ??
Yes. I have to. I started a new job last week and need to be there at 7.30 in the morning. I could cycle there but I need my tools. I will order new shoes from the local motor factor and fit them after work.

I'll drive slowly and extra careful. I have no choice.

Keep death off road, ask a friend or get a taxi

DONT DRIVE IT......

If you drive with no brake lining you will damage the inside of the drum by having metal on metal when you press the brake pedal...... If you were to brake hard the brakes will be very out of balance possibly causing the vehicle to pull violently to one side, if this causes an accident and the police investigate they will discover this and the book WILL be thrown at you.

Even if you get to work ok without having an accident you will probably need to replace the drum as well as the shoes due to the damage you cause by having metal on metal. As pointed out earlier the piston could pop out of the cylinder. Which will cause loss of brake fluid lose a small amount of this and you will lose the brakes altogether.

Get a lift or a taxi.

Ja reckon its not going to stop? I live out in the middle of nowhere and less than 10 miles from the site.

I'm going to do it anyway.

If you kill yourself so be it, if you kill someone else with a known brake fault- hope you like anal sex

Is there anyone near you who could give you a lift to work on the Landyzone int rescue map - someone might help you out... I would if I could.

If you really really really have to.

Clamp the flexi hose to prevent that brake for working this will stop the pistons from moving in the cylinder and prevent the shoe from contacting the inside of the drum. Use a small mole grip on the flexi-pipe.

This will work but I do not recommend or condone using the vehicle in this condition. If you are going to go against all advice and use the vehicle anyway. Follow this to prevent further damage. Drive and brake Very carefully -remember that it is the other drivers on the road you have a responsibility to. And you need to predict what they re going to do.

Better to explain to work you arrived on time on a push bike, than end up having entirely avoidable incident.
Yes,but I am the only one there with a skill saw. We will have fun in the sun making up shuttering with a hand saw.
I'm in there for an agency. It is meant to be for a week or two,but the foreman has implied he would keep me on for much longer.

my wife's back brake had the same problem , I renewed immediately, she has to travel just 7 miles each way and I doubt she would not know what to do in an emergency , this was a few years ago , but thinking back she used to have that problem with the hand break sticking on, just wondering if you had the same problem before hand OIW.they do not make them like they used to riveted were far better.
