Its always been a bit noisy but after having a tonne of gravel in the mack of my DC the Dif sounds real whiney. can I replace the Dif only or is it the whole axle?

Yes you can just change diff….
But first check the oil levels & quality.

what makes you think it’s the diff making the noise?

If your sure its the diff & not the propshaft get a rebuilt one from ashcrofts it sounds as it you dont have
a clue but if you have tools its an easy job to replace you can send your old unit back to them to reduce
the price. You be better calling them they are very helpful.

can the prop shaft whine? this is definitely gear mesh, I'll give them a call, thanks. I'm a mechanical fitter, every finger a spanner so no problem there.
cheers for the link
