hi guys, first time on the forum and hello to all, Just a bit of info regarding renewing the front metalastic bush on the rear diff. I bought a 98 turbo diesel two years ago and since almost day one if i dropped the clutch too quick got a god awful clunk from the transmission, investigation showed the front diff support bush was shot. Contacted local dealer got rough estimate of 4 hours at £85 per hour plus vat. Aye right pal f**k o**. Told subframe had to be dropped etc etc. -- bull****, having gotten under the car and having a good look found that with a bit of effort from a large bar, by this time i had dropped the propshaft, you could relatively easily remove the old bush and replace it, although it was a two man operation. Total cost 2nd hand bush from P.R.B. services in Leeds plus couple of beers £30. Love the motor but still maintain its crap built. Used to work on old landys many years ago (40) so still living in nostalgia!!!! Perhaps need therapy?

hi eightinavee,
had renewed viscous coupling so propshaft was off anyway. Can assure you on my '98 model there is no way that bush will come out of the "U" channel where the bush is located with everything in situ. There is not enough clearance for it to move up and out as floorpan prevents this, and it certainly wont go out towards the diff - unless as we did - moved the diff, on its rear metalastic mountings, using a pinch bar, towards the offside of the vehicle. Maybe a mod on later models made it an easy fix - maybe somebody would know. apologies for delay in replying, dru
