Hi new to the site today and thought i'd a few SFQ's to mark my corner... Just had my P38 MOT'd today and on the advisory list was the metal brake pipe across the rear axle ( having never been under the old girl I have no idea if this is a big job), is it LR original parts or are there aftermarket ones available?? More importantly, is it gonna cost the earth??:)

pipes are available as parts .but most garages would make new one up with cunifer or copper pipe can be difficult to get at fit ready made steel pipe

As james said can be difficult, best make up copper pipe. I had tank out when I did mine,I also replaced the flexys whilst I was at it.Good luck

Consider doing the front to back one whilst you're at it. They're all steel so will need replacing sometime.

thank you. apparently all the others have been replaced recently only the back one is left now and was only an advisory on the MOT to cover his back he said... i shall still get it done all the same.

Still worth either yourself or someone you trust having a good nose at all parts of the system. It's going to have to be drained and re-filled and bled which is a job in itself so anything else that can be done whilst you're at it is worthwhile. Flexi-pipes, caliper servicing etc.
