My rear ACE pipes are leaking around the actuator. Is this a DIY job or will it need a garage?

Depends on your handiness and determination;), it's not a killer, are you sure the pipes are leaking?... there are dowdy washers under the banjos on the actuator which can leak as well... anyway if you go for the pipes you'll need new block seals too cos once the pipe was removed from the valve block the seal will not be reusable... and replace one at a time to not mix them at the block connection(happened to me) then the actuator will work the other way around ang you'll feel like in a small boat on a wavy ocean:eek:

I noticed the pipes looked damp and crusty round the banjo's when I brought the Disco, then yesterday the ACE warning light started to flash and beep and when I checked the fluid it was half way down the bottle. Topped it up and drove it again and after a short drive the fluid had gone again.

Checked underneath and where the rear actuator is was soaked and dripping all over so I presume the pipe has split there. I'm gonna have both changed.

I noticed there is a filter in the block on my search, also one in the Air system behind the rear light. How often should these be changed?

i wash the foam and felt in the SLS filter once in 1-2 years depends how much i drive in very dusty environment(off course dry them well before refitting)... the ACE filter is supposed to be changed every 72K kms(convert it in miles;)) but you can clean it with petrol or something and it's OK

Cheers. Filter will be changed with pipes now. £475 quoted for 2 rear pipes and seals. Wow

 is that with labour too?... if yes find somebody else or get the bits and negotiate a fair price for fitting cos for a mechanic it's a max 1 hour job, i've got mines from here cos it sems the best price on the market
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2 - ACE Pipe Set Valve Block to Rear Ram (DLS224) | eBay , +2 X these LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2 - ACE Valve Block Pipe Insert Seal (RVW100010) | eBay ... so the bits are 225 quid but another 250 for the work is huge IMO, better buy the bits and find somebody who gives you a fair price for the job... my mechanic quoted me the equivalent of around 30 quid for the work and it took him less than 1 hour while i've been watching him and he didnt even sweat(off course we have other prices around here:cool:)
