I have no intention - nor the funds - to buy a new steering column. I'm just in the process of recruiting a girl with skinnier arms and better eyesight than me!

I've managed to get the motor out of the cowling, but God knows how anyone was able to strap it back on in the right place through such a small opening! Time to strip more panels off, I think... :(

Actually, I think the "flexible drive" shown in the pic on P1 isn't there at all, or if it is, it's completely invisible. Not looking good.

As this is the only 'telescoping ' issue thread, I can find that might have something to do with my issue, thought I would wake it up. 😁
For a looooooong time my column has squealed when going back in. A slight turn of wheel to right and it always stopped.
Couple of days ago the squeal stopped. Then the column wasn't extending completely, maybe an inch short, and the up/down control had stopped working. So I booked her in with Gibsons yesterday. Well it seems I've jinxed it! Today she stuck in extended mode! Which is better than retracted , but still 🤦‍♀️
On using the movement control stalk, nothing happens. I can hear the motor running but nothing moves.
Anyone had the issue, or know what it is?
TIA 😁👍

On my phone but here goes, from memory there is a plastic bracket that holds the motor in place that breaks hence noise but no movement about £40 or was few years ago.

Wakey wakey. Time for this thread to come out of slumber again. After last year's investigations, I can't remember the culprit but unfortunately was not the little plastic thingy.😔 So I got her 'fixed' in position to stop the sliding. Mainly because the chap who refurbishes the columns works on a ' don't know how long it will take' basis. Not even a 'could be a week', or 'could be a month', or 'could be 6 months'. He will not give the garage any idea of turnaround time, and he is the only person who refurbishes ( or was) I can't get it refurbished not knowing when the heck I might get my car back.
Which leads to.... does anyone know of anyone now doing refurbishments? I'm hoping there is more than just one guy in Ireland doing them . 🤞
TIA
