hi i,ve got a 2000 X Discovery 2 TD5 it was pressurisng under load so whipped the head of and ordered a new headset with bolts 3 hole Gasket sent the head off to be skimmed and they took off 11 Thou put the head back on built it up and bolted it down to the correct torque settings top and bottom timing marks line up fine and the engine turns over by hand nice and fine, NOW FOR MY PROBLEM Upon trying to start the car straight away it turns and sounds like it should fire but doesn't if i turn the key on a leave the fuel pump on it whines like there's air in the system and then try to start it and it seems to lock up??? (bit like if you use to much easy start) Any ideas before i start again, Many Thanks in advance :mad::doh:
 
Hi thanks for the replies do you need to bleed the fuel lines? and how? Cheers Dan

put ignition on pos II then push the throttle 5 times ...then wait untill the flashing MIL light stops... turn off ignition then try to start the engine
 
Had the same prob mate. It was a badly fitting seal on an injector allowing the cylinder to fill with fuel.
