Hi all , as promised I thought I would let you know how I got on with " magic " Mike from Dynachip. Was going to get this done by a local garage back in November but the price went up from £200 to £350 because my ECU was to old To cut a long story short local garage wanted an extra £150 on top of the original price of £200 first quoted, this was to buy their homemade fault finder which would allow the up grade & allow me to find future faults when they occurred...NO THANKS & in steps Mike from Dynachip who came up to South Shields where I work.

Results excellent & over the moon that the Disco will pull my twin wheeler ( struggled a bit uphill over new year in Northumberland ) much easier.

Anyone who is thinking about it he is your man as many of you had mentioned to me.

OK while I am on I have noticed drops of fluid which I thought was coming from filter above offside rear wheel....on closer inspection its brake fluid coming from rear brake pipe.

Have had a quick look on Ebay / paddocks etc but to be honest I need a bit of advice on what I need.

Regards

David

Haven't heard a bad word said about Mike/Dynachip, always the same comments - very pleasant/helpful/knowledgeable and everyone is always very happy.

I had my remap done by Gary at Td5Alive (now Alive Tuning) and I'm also happy, but given the price difference and the fact that Mike comes out to you, I'd probably also go to Mike next time.

Re the brake pipes, only you know where the leak is coming from! Have a look at the parts catalogue for the D2 here - Microcat - Spare parts Land Rover catalogue in English Yes its a Russian site but its ok - I've been using it safely for years. Click on the Microcat to open the catalogue, then click on the D2 picture on the LHS.

It's more than likely a rusted brake pipe when it goes near the suspension I made some new pipes for mine wasn't difficult

Aye, I am sure Mike will travel the length of the Country to Re-map the Disco's. When he left me in Sheffield after coming down from Newcastle, I'm pretty certain his next day was to be spent in the Kent area. His customer service is 11/10, aye he is that good.

When I brought my brought my son back to the UK for uni in Sept 2013 the D2 was the obvious choice to use with all the stuff kids have. So as a little pressie to me I contacted Mike before I left France for a stage 1 remap, having found recommendations on here, for my 2004 td5 D2 ES. It didn't matter where I was going to be staying in the UK as long as he had a postcode for his gps and he could plan when and where he was going to be that week. Best contacting him though to ask about areas covered. The day before visiting me in Brum he'd been in Devon.

Great service, on time, discreet wife still doesn't know and appeared very very knowledgeable on the td5 lump.

All I can say is with the stage 1 remap, decat, no centre box and de-egr'd. When I push the loud pedal she now pulls beautifully and overtakes are effortless. On fast, 80 mph on motorways, 800 mile plus journey returned average of 28.3 mpg. Back to normal driving here have to tickle the throttle a bit more gently, nice to have it there though if needed.:D

Well worth the £225.

We get Dynachip to come to our workshop in Washington several times a year. He charges what he does, we're just on hand free as back up should he need it. Lovely guy, knows his stuff, very straight and honest. We have no problem doing this for him as our cars have been great. We have never had to replace a manifold on a TD5 he's remapped but have done many others. It's more as a social thing that he comes to us, we get him to do owners clubs and groups of friends together

If you're only working in South Shields pop in to our workshop we can let you know what you need if there is a leak with part numbers etc if you get stuck. We keep some in depends what day it is and what's sold, not everything

It's usually £225, £250 if it's one with a chip on (early TD5s) he does a lot of VWs Audis and Fords when he comes up to us in addition to the landies :)
