Brought a 1994 Defender 90 in need of a new galvanised chassis.....I am looking for somebody to do the work, I want a good job at a fair price.....I just wondered if anybody has had good service from a company in the north of England, although based in Newcastle upon Tyne I am happy to travel.

Many thanks
Alan

Thanks for the advice, too big a job for me:eek: but would appreciate contact details of your man in East Lothian.

Did you buy the landy knowing it needed done? Seems like a big project to take on when there are some ones out there for not too much money that have already been looked after??

It really isnt a bad job, the worsed it removing rusted bolts! but make a note of the order in which you removed things and take pictures and do the opposite on the new chassis and you will be fine, there are loads of rebuild threads you can read for help. There are people who offer the service on ebay but that charge 1500+ which is proberly more than you paid for the chassis, Do it yourself and make a thread we'd look to follow it

Aye do it ya sen.. lots of fotos as yu strip it so ya can refer back when rebuilding it.

Yes we knew it needed doing when we brought it, but although it needs work, I feel it is a good honest vehicle which is hiding nothing.

Once again, thank you for all your advice.......which is mainly saying do it myself. A lot to ponder over including the fact that for what it will cost me to rebuild, may be it is worth just selling & running an old disco as our workhorse.

It's not very difficult to change the chassis all you need is a decent socket set, angle grinder and a big hammer :D I'm just putting a new chassis and bulkhead on mine ATM.
All it takes is dedication, time and quite a bit of money
