Hello everyone. I joined this forum a while ago when I was first looking to get back in to the Defender owning game.
Now finally after a period of looking and waiting and with a little help from a successful PPI claim I have invested in a Defender 90 TD5.
It is a 1999 in metallic red (I will post some pictures when I have them downloaded) the chassis has had some welding which needs rust proofing. The engine drives really sweetly although there is a slight clunk when you come off the clutch, (I am thinking maybe worn drive shaft splines.. I will have a look sometime soon). I have had the clutch master cylinder replaced as it was leaking oil down the clutch pedal and had a full service done at the same time.
I have already fitted a Mud console and with the help of some nice carling switches moved the RHW Hazard and Fog switches on to it as well as replacing the standard rear wash wipe with a carling switch. I have fitted a spare switch for the front spots but I need to chase the wiring through as I have no idea where they are connected (if at all). I have moved the headlight levelling switch from the centre down to where the other switches were mounted after making a mounting plate. Also replaced the cigarette lighter with a 12v supply and added a 12v USB both mounted on the Mud console.
The next job was to run speaker with from the stereo round to the rear where I mounted two speakers with two modded puma mounts (also from Mud) and a couple of spacers I got off ebay.
Hopefully next week I will be cutting out the rust patch at the bottom of the drivers side seat box and re plate before adding some sound proofing and new carpet. Then some new front seats and cubby box before replacing the rear seats and belts and replacing the rear carpet with rubber matting to make it nice and dog proof.
And I am still smilling
