My disklok arrived today :) (£26 from ebay)

I have recently changed my steering wheel to a 14" one so bought a SMALL disklok.
Looks very well made and very tough :)
Tried it on my steering wheel and it is VERY loose even at the tightest setting :eek:
I could get my fingers through the back of the disk lock and round the enclosed face of the steering wheel :eek: Its that loose that i'm sure you could (with a bar and a bit of brute force) lever the steering wheel rim through the hole on the back :eek:
Might have something to do with the steering wheel being a bit thin??

Anyway decided to mod the disklok a bit to ensure a closer fit without it being tight to the wheel.............

I had an old 300tdi drive belt that i have cut into 2 pieces - so that the grooves fit into each other. Bit of super glue to bond the 2 pieces of belt together and some on the outer to fix the pieces to the top inside rim of the disklok - sorted :)

The thickness of the doubled belt makes the disklok sit higher up on the wheel so that both the top and bottom of the wheel is enclosed by the disklok rim :)

Didn't think i'd have to 'mod' it - just glad it was a cheap and easy fix :)

:doh: not much good if the tea leafs crawl underneath with a good pair if wire cutters or small bolt croppers and cut the handbrake cable or on lt77 pull the actuator pin :rolleyes:

having been busted into and my cab stuff stolen i block my wagon in now.:mad:

thankfully the cage and tool safe in the back was not accessed.....
 
No security device in the world will stop them. Round by us they pull up in a truck with a hiab arm and it's gone. Tracker on a defender found In1min thrown in canal its history. The biggest problem with any tracker is the fitter.

How about fitting 3! In all various locations :D

Fair enough being taken away on a truck but if you got a decent enough alarm fitted it will scream bloody murder hopefully waking you up if they are mid lift its not asthough they could speed away. Hopefully giving one time to pick up a large object and proceed to ruin them with said object.

Actually the man is right... fitting it is the most sensitive part of the operation. It does require some imagination. Sure you can stick it behind the dash and it will do it's job... but the best one I have come across is a welded box... welded to the chassis and completely sealed. Can't get rid of it... will take some finding...sets an alert off if the box is tampered with, I thought it was feckin Genius!

I had modified my stick shift welding a socket to the bottom and welded a 1/2 drive to the base. When ever I parked I took the stick shift with me.
 
Some trackers have geofences. When the car leaves the penned area the tracker alerts the owner who can in turn, if without the vehicle, notify the police.

I would be interested in opinions on Cat 2 immobilisers. I have a clutch claw and disklok and I am also considering a Cat 2 immobiliser (around £200) - are these easy to circumvent?
