Quite loud rattling metallic noise has started in the last 10 miles and seems to be getting worse/ louder
I’ve taken off the serpentine belt to eliminate tensioner and water pump with no effect
Any ideas
Thanks Adrian

Cars at home wife has just drove it back from work no issues on way there just started on way home
Sounds as if it’s lower down in the engine bay
I’ll pull rocker cover off and have a look

From your initial description, it's hard to say.
Removing the serpentine belt was a good first move as this eliminates several parts.

What you have left is the vacuum pump, fuel lift pump and/or something internal (cam shaft etc) which is, I guess, your next point of examination.
How is the oil level ?
Lest us know what you find.

Hard to trace noises but sounds like it is from left side (as you look at engine) and towards the front

Crank pulley has no play on it

Im assuming you mean longitudinal play, rather than rotational play, as it will be keyed away.

Does the manual lever on the fuel lift pump still feel like it should do? I have a (real life) friend whos lift pump managed to shed its internal arm into the sump somewhere. Although manipulating the external arm probably wouldn't give indication of this, but its worth a go.

Cam is on that side of the engine, but id imagine that errors there would show up as valve clearence issues instantly, but youve looked at them.

Feels ok
Car drove as normal on her way home with no smoke or loss in power just rattling
No fluid levels have changed

Without hearing the noise can only really guess, but have had the pinion seal disc on the axle below the engine come loose makes a rattling/squealing noise similar to a drive belt as the prop rotates.
