I am in currently trying to order one of these binnacles (and mounts). I have never removed the instrument panel; the spaghetti junction petrifies the daylights out of me. Anything I should look out for? Any step-by-step guides?

Dont thin there are any step by step guides. Just label everything before you disconnect and you will be fine.
Be careful if you are disconnecting anything though as wires may be old and brittle. Nice and gentle..
Might be a good time for an inspection and get rid of any scotchloks etc

Just fitted one myself last week. Take steering wheel off first, more access, then undue speedo cable, then its just 3block connectors to take the old binnacle out. Once out you can swap over dials etc sat in the comfort of ones living room.
Did you get the metal mount as well?
Easy job well worth doing, no more rattles and squeeks.

Thanks Xrizlax. That's what i had planned to do.

Yes I got the metal mount too. I'm sure the one that's currently fitted will disintegrade into dust as soon as I'll try to touch it! It should be shipped out today so I should have it within a couple of weeks tops.

Good to find this thread, I'm planning on ordering both the binnacle and binnacle mount at the end of this week as mine has gone all brittle.

I'll post some pictures up when I swap it over

Well mines been on for a couple of weeks now, all the squeeks and rattles have gone.
Well worth the effort although a tad pricey.

Well I received mine in the post yesterday, very well made and does look the part ! Just put the gauges in so its ready to fit when I'm at home tomorrow

how did you clock the odo then, take the casing off? ;)

No idea !!! I bought it zero' at Peterborough a couple of years ago as the previous owner had used something like sandpaper to "polish" the plastic cover.

After looking at my pictures I'm wondering if the warning lights should go behind the panel ?

No.... After looking at the raptor website it seems I have it right, excited about fitting it tomorrow now. I also bought the metal mount as well, it was worth doing that overtime last week

Baring in mind it was me who initiated this thread back in February I have been a little slow in fitting my binnacle but I actually made a start this evening. :)

Old binnacle off and instruments fitted to the Raptor unit quite quickly. I just have a few other jobs to finish behind the dash tomorrow morning and it will be complete. It was easy enough to do, I fitted a brand-new LRGP binnacle last year so everything was already neat & tidy, it was just a case of swopping everything over.
If case anyone was wondering, I have got a bezel fitted but it is black to match the console. To be perfectly honest it isn't required if (like me) you have gone for black on black but I got it anyway.

Issues?
The only one was that the supplied screws were too short for the warning light cluster and the OE ones the wrong size. I have fitted SS slot head for the time being (the only ones I had to hand) but will change to SS button head Allen next week to match the others (turns out the early units were supplied with short screws but this has now been rectified).

The eagle eyed amongst you will notice that I don't use LR gauges, I swopped to Durite a couple of years ago and they have been great, I also have a couple in my Raptor console (clock & mech oil-pressure).

I will post another photo tomorrow when it is complete.
