I have Dixon Fabrication Tree Sliders fitted to my D2 TD5 and am very happy with them.
However, they have taken the odd minor knock and the powder coating was not premium quality from new.
As a result I have had to wire brush them a few times, treat with Kurust and then layers of Satin Hammerite.
This keeps them looking OK and stops rust from spreading, but I'm wondering if using Raptor paint would give a more resistant and uniform finish. I put skate board tape over the top surface a week or so after buying them and these areas are still stable. I am considering stripping it all off, removing any surface rust, treating with Kurust and then a few coats of black Raptor paint. After that I will see how much grip the Raptor gives, but probably put grip tape back on.
Has anyone done this before? Does Raptor grip OK on the small radius surface? Noting that I am not a fan of using Raptor paint as a full respray option, does it look reasonable against the rest of the vehicle? I would rather not find myself having to spray the wheel arch trims, bumpers etc as well if I can help it.
