My odometer has suddenly started blinking rapidly - all the time. It is a Discovery Series II TD5, first registered May 2000. Yesterday the remote control wouldn't work (I even tried the spare with same effect) although it sprang into action a couple of hours later and now seems normal. I have never had trouble before. :confused: What is it trying to tell me and how can I stop it, please?
 
Many thanks for that but where do I put the battery?!!!!!!!! Although I have driven LRs for about 20 years I am not remotely technically minded and have always bought new and relied on my dealer. Alas, after spending many thousands of pounds to try to get a spasmodic 'all alarm lights blazing' problem fixed by them, to no effect, I have lost faith. As I live very rurally in the Welsh hills, finding another dealer is not an easy task, especially after this experience and I have resorted to having it serviced by 'the local man' who is always undestanding of an aged damsel in distress. Your help is much appreciated.
 
I believe the flashing odometer is indicating a difference between the reading on the clocks and the mileage recorded on the body control unit. Has anyone changed the clocks by any chance?

No Rob. The car has never been out of my sight (I am retired and therefore always with the car) and I am the only driver. Also, I know the milage is accurate because I have been carefully watching the mileage so as to book the full service and I have the full service history - a very accurate trace of the mileage on all bills, too!. The only thing that has broken the normal routine is yesterday's hiccup with the remote locking.

Your car needs to go on Testbook and have an "odometer update" done.Sounds like it had a bad hair day with your c/locking.These problems often happen when the sunroofs or windscreen leak water down through the dash area,it plays havoc with the electrics.
 
Now, this might be a hint of the problem. About 6 weeks ago I had to have a new windscreen and recently, when it rained, I THOUGHT that there was a leak - I say 'thought' because it could have been water off my dog-walking boots that was on the mat! Where do I go to put the car on Testbook?

where abouts in Wales are you LRS in Bangor Gwynedd are quite reasonable.
 
I live in Carmarthenshire, near Llandovery. Do you know of any where in this area by any chance? I am used to having to travel quite long distances for LR services as there is just about nothing local to me.
 
Alternator died last week, was originally told it was a battery problem which led to a purchase of a new battery, after finding it was Infact the alternator I disconnected the battery to stop it running down while waited for new alternator and getting into
The garage, all fixed now but the odometer is flashing away. Anyway to stop it, maybe with a hawkeye?

In the end, I had to have the fuse box replaced, at the expense of a well-known windscreen company, as they had failed to seal it properly and water had seeped in and caused the problem. Took a few weeks to get it sorted.

In answer to your question, could it be that some people are only comfortable adding things to a forum when they have genuine things to say??

Appreciate that, however my post related to the guy asking about a dog guard a couple of years after the thread started and had nothing to do with dog guards.

I did a google search for that particular question and the 2nd answer had all the information needed.
I think some people are too lazy to do any research themselves and instead just take the easy route and ask stupid questions.
