Yeah the RRS has the same box as the D3.That was a lot of info in one reply thanks
Does the RRS TDV6 (may consider one ) have a better auto box than the L322 ? You say its identical to D3
I do about 25k a year and tow so has to be diesel I am afraid.
The RRS from 2004 (not 2006) had the same 2.7 TDV6 engine AND gearbox as the D3So the RRS after 2006 has the same engine TDV6 and auto box as the D3 I now understand .
Range Rover is very popular here and prices are the same as a D3. If I thought they were similar I am tempted by a RR tdv6 now.
.
The sport like the d4 is body of for quite a few jobs eg turbo`s where as on an l322 you don't have to as the hole car is bigger than a sport and has lots more room, a sport is not really a range rover.
Sorry but hats nonesense. The L322 is not a lot bigger. It is also a unibody or monocoque construction. There is no separate chassis. The D3/4 & RRS use a hybrid chassis with a part unibody assembly on a ladder frame. Lifting the body is an intended design element to aid access. The sport like the d4 is body of for quite a few jobs eg turbo`s where as on an l322 you don't have to as the hole car is bigger than a sport and has lots more room, a sport is not really a range rover.
Not sure what weight you are towing. But Jeep Grand Cherokee or Commander and the latter Mitsubishi Shoguns might be worth looking at too. All capable vehicles. And not so off roady the 5.0 litre V10 Tdi Touareg is probably similar in price terms.
I always found D3 an awesome tow vehicle, up to three tonnes

If the RRS isn’t a Range Rover. Then the L322 certainly can’t be. As it doesn’t use a single Rover component and was completely funded by BMW! And hardly shares any design elements with previous Range Rovers.
RR Tdv6 after approx 2005 has D3 engine and D3 auto box and electric handbrake ?
RRS used the TDv6 from launch. The L323 (FFRR) never used the tdv6. It did use the 3.6 tdv8.RR Tdv6 after approx 2005 has D3 engine and D3 auto box and electric handbrake ?
But a lighter vehicle !
