RANGE ROVER TD6 GEARBOX HAS NOW PACKED UP, BUT DO I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER BOX, AND CONNECTING PIPES?
I have a 2004 Range Rover TD6 Vogue, It has now covered 140k miles and is always serviced at Landrover Main Dealer's.
My problems started just last week with the gearbox, it seemed to be juddering, but only very slightly when slowing down. Firstly the dealer tells me it's the gearbox linkage, they replace this and charge me £156. Next morning, I have no drive whatsoever!! The AA tow the car back to the dealer who now telll me it needs a new gearbox at £4k.
They say I also need to replace the Transmission Oil Cooler Box and Connecting Pipes, and that this is standard whenever a gearbox is changed. Another main dealer who quoted for the work, tells me this is not necessary, who do I believe?? Also, if these parts are not changed, and the gearbox packs up again, will this invalidate the gearbox warranty?? Please can anyone, give me some honest advice on this one!! Thank you
