Hi there, I have a 2006 Range Rover Sport 2.7tdv6. I think I have a problem with one of my injectors . Could anyone please tell me, other than running diagnostics, is there any way I can check. Thanks everyone . Andy.

Hi, thank you for your reply. It's an auto with 130000 miles on the clock. It has very erratic tickler, loss of power and lots of blackish smoke. It was also going into limp mode if you put your foot down. I have checked the intercooler hose and can't see any damage, although there is a kind of film of oil on it. I did have an injector go on me last year, with similar symptoms.Hi
May i ask why do u think it’s an injector , what faults does it have please, ie , is it at tickover , motorway speeds, any smoke
Alas though due to the complexity of these engines a diagnostic reader that can also provide live data go hand in hand
Can of course check basic things first , but if u don’t mind being a bit more specific plse it may or may not point of where to look first
Plus is it an auto/ manual , mileage , when it was last serviced plse
Cheers
Hi freelance, someone else told me that, so I blanked them off and removed the pipes. Couldn't believe how dirty they were. Alas, this has made no difference at all. Also typical symptoms of a faulty egr

I'd have it read to make sure you don't have another injector gone??I did have an injector go on me last year, with similar symptoms.
Many thanks Andy
Hi again,
Thank you very much for all this info. I have removed the butterfly and gently cleaned the sensor. I am going to replace the long intercooler hose this week, but I was unaware that there is another one. I will try to locate this later. I am guessing it is awkward to get to. I will take your advice, and refit the egr pipes, leaving the blanking plates in place. Hopefully this will stop all the smoking.
Many thanks
Andy.
That looks bleeding awful to work on
They don't build them like they used too..Not really , just takes abit longer to work out how to work on things , seen worse , lol
However I done my first wishbone replacement and that was #&#&#&@&&@& of a job , needed to because the bushes were worn out
Hardest bit is getting the bolts out as they rust solid inside the metal collars of the bushes
But saved a lot of money , dealer wanted in excess of 1k to do the job, cost me £250

Bloddy hell
Nice one Gary, despite grazed knuckles a most satisfying job I’d say, especially saving 750 squid.
Im moving closer to your house. I'd have moved closer to @holidaychicken but it would have cost me more than £4k in dresses, high heels and gaffer tape, so false economyThks, thought it would never end trying to cut the bolts , also know I couldn’t afford to put mine in the garage every time it needed something
In the 2 x years I’ve had it I must have saved at least 4K by doing all the work myself
