Increasing complexity as you go down. By the time I got to the last diagram my eyes were crossed.
 
Looking at the P38 Diesel (cos thats what mine is), I hadn't stopped to think about it before, but I see the thermostat opens the cold return from the radiator, rather than the hot supply to the rad!

Not immensely important, but interesting to note.

just had to have another look at that one, yes the opposite to my experiance with motors:)
 
Can anyone explain where the coolant returns to the system from the alternator on a L322 4.4 M62 TUB.
 
The red means hot from engine - so to thermostat/rad

@Saint.V8 - no arrows drawn in on that one

Wish I’d found this day1, would have helped get my head around it first off

I didn't draw the arrows on - they are taken from the workshop manuals and I just added the colours!
